“The girl that waited”- Doctor Who
Science and religion kiss within the heavens.
I am watching Doctor Who; I have never been a fan of science fiction, but I decided to give Doctor Who a chance.
There are so many things that I can analyze in the Doctor Who series, but where do I begin? In the middle or the end?
The end is still a question for us all? But also, mainly because this series keeps on going, regenerating every three years. New Doctor, a new way of being. There is so much I love about this series but so many things I still don’t understand.
As often as I have watched and stopped watching over the years, it has been really me doubting my ability to feel, not think.
So, what is Doctor Who? Doctor Who is the most complex, witty, and devastating piece of poetry
This is more than just a timelord and his campion traveling all around space and time; it has humanity and theology at its core. It asks the most common questions, such as what is life? What is the purpose for us all? But they ask it in such a beautifully strange way.
The Bible says this
“You turn things upside down! Shall the potter be regarded as the clay, that the thing made should say of its maker, “He did not make me,”; or the thing formed say of him who formed it, “He has no understanding”? – Isaiah 29:16
This is what we say to God through our actions every day. We feel times that God doesn’t understand us. His plans are already written, but we cannot see what they are. Doing so will change history, the present, and the future. Trust in time, but how can we when time is ever fleeting? It keeps going and going without any permission from us.
“As you come into this world, something else is also born. You begin your life, and it begins a journey towards you. It moves slowly, but it never stops. Wherever you go, whatever path you take it will follow-never faster, never slower, always coming.” – Doctor Who
God is the keeper of all. He stands at our gates. He waits for us to notice. The Lord God Jesus Christ is always here, just like the Doctor is always there.
The Doctor turns all that he meets lives upside down. Just like God has and continues to do for me. I am God’s companion. We all want someone to come into our lives and go on this long journey with us. For me, The Doctor has a God-like aura, His love for humanity is there, and each regeneration manifests in different ways.
Father, Son, & The Holy Spirit Three persons in one God.
There are so many rooms in my mind I get lost along the way. My fears are always behind me. Fear holds memories just like joy does. So where do I go? I run far and wide to find salvation, to see who I am.
Right now, I step forward toward the madman with the box, which resonates with Jesus Christ with His cross. I am loved through time and space, heaven and earth.
So often in my daily life, I long for something bigger to reignite my imagination and sense of adventure. I long to walk into the Tardis and find out it is bigger on the inside than the outside.
The Doctor comes unexpectedly, sometimes when you don’t want him to. Same as God. We believe a lot in reaching heaven to reach that happiness. Listen, love, and sacrifice are the reality of our fear. We live it every day. We hate and love ourselves because of it.
Life matters every bit of it.
“We’re all stories in the end” – Doctor Who
It all started with a woman named Rose meeting the Doctor, and on that same day, I met Him. I went on each journey, each dangerous adventure, with him, in my heart. I love the Doctor, but it isn’t just the Doctor. It Is God; God led me to the madman in the box to remember how much I am loved. How much of this story is woven into mine, into our lives. We all want to be alive; we want a friend.
“It all just disappears, doesn’t it? Everything you are gone in a moment like breath on a mirror. Any moment now, he’s coming. The Doctor and I always will be. But times change, and so must I. We all change when you think about it. We are all different people all through our lives, and that’s okay; that’s good you’ve got to keep moving so long as you remember all the people that you used to be.I will not forget one line of this, not one day, I swear. I will always remember when The Doctor was me…” Doctor Who 11
In this case, The Doctor is and always will be my friend.
